Is it really trash....or is it treasure?
Well, when Zaxby's Chicken made the choice to donate their unwanted vegetable scraps to Safari Joe's Exotic Wildlife Rescue we considered it treasure!
Are reptiles alone consume over 50 lbs of produce a day, so when our new neighbors came over to introduce themselves and immediately offered to donate to the sanctuary, we welcomed them and their hospitality!
The U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates food waste in the United States to be about 30 to 40 percent of the food supply. An estimated 133 billion pounds of food from stores, restaurants and homes goes to waste, according to the USDA. Most food that’s thrown away ends up in landfills.
The next time you visit a Zaxby's Chicken, and the new location at 21st & Yale in Tulsa, be sure to thank them for their donation to Safari Joe's Exotic Wildlife Rescue. Their trash, produce scraps, are a treasure to us and help us save lives, provide food and nutrition to the animals, and assist us with our mission.
One mans trash is another mans, or animals, treasure! Thank you Zaxby's!
